Day Quest - Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how the Day Quest mobile application (“Day Quest”, “the app”, “we”, “us”) handles information.

Day Quest is designed to keep your data on your device and in your own iCloud account. We do not run our own servers for your content, we do not sell data, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across apps or websites. The app sends three narrow categories of data described below: automatic crash reports, optional anonymous usage analytics, and feedback you choose to submit.

Your content stays yours

All content you create in Day Quest - quests, subtasks, journal entries, timers, themes, statistics, and settings - is stored locally on your device.

If you are signed in to iCloud, Day Quest also syncs this content to the private iCloud database attached to your Apple ID, so your data can move between your devices and survive a reinstall. This sync uses Apple’s CloudKit service:

• The data goes to your private iCloud storage, not to us. We have no access to it and no ability to read it.
• Apple encrypts this data in transit and at rest under Apple’s terms.
• You can disable iCloud for Day Quest in iOS Settings at any time.

If iCloud Backup is enabled, your device backup may also include Day Quest data. That backup is between you and Apple.

Crash reports and diagnostics

Day Quest uses Firebase Crashlytics, a crash-reporting service operated by Google, so we can find and fix crashes. If the app crashes, a report is sent to Crashlytics containing:

• A technical stack trace of the crash
• Device model, operating system version, and app version
• Device state at the time of the crash (such as available memory and orientation)
• A randomly generated per-installation identifier used to group crash reports (a Firebase installation ID)

Crash reports do not include your name, email address, quests, journal entries, or other content you have created. The installation identifier is not your advertising identifier and is not used to track you across apps; we use crash data solely to diagnose and fix problems.

Anonymous usage analytics

Day Quest uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how people use the app and which features are most useful. Analytics is enabled by default and can be turned off at any time under Settings > Privacy > Anonymous Usage Analytics.

Analytics may collect:

• App opens, sessions, screen views, app version, operating system, and device model
• General country or region derived by Google from a masked IP address; Day Quest never requests your device location for analytics
• App Store purchase or subscription events, such as product ID and price
• Fixed feature events such as creating or completing a quest, starting a countdown or interval timer, and creating a journal entry
• A randomly generated app-instance identifier used to count unique app installations and sessions

The fixed feature events never include quest names, notes, subtasks, journal text, timer names, custom stat names, dates, or other content you enter. Day Quest does not set a user ID, link Analytics to an account, or include Apple’s advertising identifier (IDFA). Advertising storage, personalization, on-device ad conversion measurement, and ad-network attribution are disabled.

Turning Analytics off stops further collection, clears queued analytics from the device, and resets the local app-instance identifier. Google processes Analytics data on our behalf. Feedback you choose to send

Day Quest has an optional in-app feedback form. Nothing is sent unless you write a message and tap submit. When you do, we receive:

• The message you wrote
• App version, device model, and iOS version

If you submit a problem report (as opposed to a feature request), the submission also includes a diagnostic log: a technical report containing the app’s recent internal error messages and the size of its local database. In rare cases an error message may mention the name of an item it relates to (for example, a quest name that failed to save). You can choose to send a feature request instead if you prefer not to include diagnostics.

Feedback is stored in Google Firestore, a database service operated by Google, and is used only to improve the app and respond to problems. It is not linked to your identity unless you include identifying details in your message.

What we do not collect

Day Quest does not collect, store, or transmit:

• Your name, email address, phone number, or any account identifier (Day Quest has no accounts)
• Your precise location
• Your contacts, photos, or device files
• Advertising identifiers

We do not use advertising networks or track anyone across apps or websites. The only third-party services in the app are Apple (StoreKit, CloudKit, notifications) and Google Firebase (Crashlytics crash reporting, Analytics, and Firestore feedback storage), as described above.

Purchases and subscriptions

Day Quest offers in-app purchases and subscriptions through Apple’s App Store using StoreKit. When you make a purchase:

• The transaction is handled entirely by Apple.
• We never see, receive, or store your payment information.
• Apple provides Day Quest with a receipt confirming whether you have an active entitlement, so the app can unlock premium features. This receipt contains no personal information.
• Subscription management (cancellation, refunds, billing) is handled by Apple in the App Store account settings on your device.

Notifications

If you grant notification permission, Day Quest schedules local notifications on your device to remind you of quests and timers. These notifications are generated entirely on-device and are not sent through any server.

Children

Day Quest is suitable for general audiences and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The data we receive (crash reports, anonymous usage analytics, and voluntary feedback) is not used to identify anyone.

Your rights

Your quests, journal entries, and other content never reach us, so there is no content for us to access or hand over.

Crash reports, anonymous analytics, and submitted feedback do reach us. If you would like the feedback you submitted or the crash data associated with your installation deleted, contact us at the email below and we will delete it. Crash reports are retained by Crashlytics for 90 days. You can stop future analytics collection from Settings > Privacy and reset the identifier stored on your device by turning Analytics off. You can also delete all local Day Quest data at any time by uninstalling the app, and remove synced data via iOS Settings > iCloud > Manage Storage.
